My Story

My career spans the large districts of San Francisco and Oakland, California as well as the peninsula between San Francisco and San Jose, California. I started my career as a student teacher amidst a faculty of visionary educators working to create a solution to decades of educational inequity. I saw curricular norms upended, high school course sequences reorganized for more access and success and a constant stream of innovations and collaborations across the faculty. 

That vision, that we really could re-engage with school systems and redesign the work of adults to meet the goals for students forever shaped me (the school DID reach many of it's aims in the early years until the political tides turned and leadership changes and program redesign came in from the new Superintendent). That vision showed me the impact I could have when working in a way that amplified our individual efforts.  

Pulshive comes from those  nearly 25 years in the public education system and 18 years as a site or central administrator.  Along the way, I had the good fortune to keep meeting amazing mentors, innovators and thinkers who reinforced and grew my vision of what a positive force for good our education system *can* be when we are all thriving.

And I know that’s a tall order. Because before we get to the students, schools are made up of adults who have incredibly complex things going on in their own lives and in their own development. A leader must be in tune to that and craft the rhythm and design of the shared work that amplifies the good and strengthens and develops the areas with weaknesses.

I started Pulsehive to directly serve school leaders (aspiring, new and experienced) by providing  of-the-moment tips, content and strategies that they can use immediately, and repeatedly, for interdependent teams that thrive in service of our children. All of our children, with joy and an unwavering eye on equity.
